Soaked in Seaside…

Where is Hogg?

Soaked in Seaside.

Lili and I travelled from our home outside of Seattle to Seaside, Or. for a weekend getaway.  We like to stay at the Surftides Resort in Seaside, it’s a nice weekend getaway.  I have always said that I wanted to come to the ocean during a storm– well, I can now say that I have been there and done that.  This weekend has been the most dismal that I have seen in quite some time–one of the biggest rain storms on record… but not a particularly decent wind storm, so we will have to return for one of those in the future.

The rain was like like ocean spray for the most part, constant light spray– the kind of rain that is annoying because it is so constant and so light– you end up way more wet than you feel you should be.  Walking along the empty beaches was particularly pleasant, despite the ongoing, constant spray of mist.  There were moments that the pacific winds would stir themselves up, it felt like climbing Rainier at times, that strong alpine-like howl was present on the pacific today.

We took this weekend away to celebrate Lilifer’s birthday, Happy Birthday Lili!  We also needed to get away, work has been hard for both of us lately and we needed a getaway to help reset us for what is going to be a difficult couple of months.  We both have some big projects we are working on– and while it is good to be busy, I find myself forgetting that life is supposed to be about fun and taking care of yourself.  It’s important to watch yourself closely when you are so busy and this trip, although rainy and stormy, the reset feels like it might be a success.

Finally, after years of procrastination, I have purchased this domain.  Next stop, migrating the “best of” my travel blogs from the last several years, including my time in China and Germany.  It is an exciting time for me.  This is a new experience so try to be patient as I figure out how to migrate content over to this site and make it everything that I want it to be!

Thanks for stopping by!
